Nursery

Nursery

Our nursery is filled with purposeful and engaging learning experiences that offer endless opportunities for children to play and grow. This is reflected in our wonderful outdoor space, in which children get to play and learn alongside their peers in Reception. The nursery is currently run by a qualified teacher and experienced Early Years Level 3 qualified practitioner.

The learning is shaped through the Early Years Curriculum and shows clear progression into Reception, KS1 and KS2 for every child. The nursery is enriched with a variety of resources and equipment that promote independence and develop skills and knowledge of the world around them. Through the provision children are met with inclusivity and interactions that cater for individual needs as well as Special Educational Needs. A multi-agency approach is used to support learners with such needs and professionals' expertise is drawn upon when planning and making adjustments to the provision. This includes, but is not limited to, Health Visitors, Community Paediatricians, Early Years SEN Inclusion Team (EYSENITs), Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

The nursery offers morning and afternoon sessions, term-time only, to the 3-4 year olds that have 15 hours of funding. Children entilted to 30 hours attend both morning and afternoon sessions with lunch in between.

Morning sessions run from 8:45am to 11:45am and afternoon sessions run from 12:15pm to 3:15pm. Children are expected to attend every session they are funded for.

Nursery Funding

Currently all 3 & 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free early education each week and some are eligible for an additional 15 hours (up to 30 hours per week). Entitlement starts from the term after the child’s 3rd birthday:

Date of birthday range Earliest entitlement starts from
1 April - 31 August September
1 September - 31 December January
1 January - 31 March April

Parents need to check whether they are eligible and how many hours they are entitled to via the online Eligibility Checker at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk If eligible an 11-digit code/ reference number will be generated and should be given to the school in the half term before the child starts. Alternatively, parents may be able to purchase additional hours if there are places available after all funded children have been allocated places.

Nursery Application Process

Our main intake for new children is September, January and April subject to availability. If there is availability in between these times a child can join mid-term. The school manages admissions for nursery places. Please contact the school office for an application form.
