Attendance

Why is school attendance so important?

Regular attendance at school ensures that children get the best possible start in life. Good attendance supports learning, the development of social skills and friendships, as well as building good habits that are essential for adult life. School education lays the vital foundations of a child’s life.

Every day counts!

To help with punctuality, our school gates open at 8.30am before teachers arrive to collect their classes at 8.40am. We ring a bell at 8.45am to signal that the school day starts in 5 minutes (at 8.45am). Pupils and families can hear this bell ringing from the path outside the school to ensure they arrive promptly and without delay. We aim to prevent lateness as this adds up to a loss of learning:

Punctuality

Every minute counts!

Research clearly demonstrates the link between regular attendance and educational progress and attainment, which is highlighted in this blog written by the Attendance Hub. For this reason, attendance remains a high priority for us as a school, our stakeholders, the local authority and the government, as detailed in a recent blog by the Children’s Commissioner.
